Inspired by the universal gesture of parents playfully tickling their children, the sculpture captures a scene of closeness and reassurance expressed through simple interaction and exchanged gazes. The two animals form a compact and harmonious composition that conveys warmth, protection and emotional connection.
Through its rounded modelling and soft presence, Tickles reflects Sophie Verger’s distinctive ability to translate human relationships into poetic animal narratives. The warm brown patina enhances the tactile quality of the surface and reinforces the sculpture’s sense of calm intimacy.
