This page explains what personal data Art Thema collects, why, how long it is kept and how you can exercise your rights. It applies to the artthema.com website and to your dealings with the gallery.
Who is responsible for your data
Art Thema CM, a French simplified joint-stock company (SAS) operating the Art Thema gallery, represented by its president, Catherine Meulemans.

The data we collect
- When you sign up for our news (the “Become part of our circle” form): first name, last name, email address, the language of the site and the page from which you signed up.
- When you contact us or buy a work: the details you give us (name, address, telephone, email, company), the content of our exchanges, the works you are interested in and, for a purchase, the information needed for the sale, invoicing and delivery.
- When you browse the site, and only if you have agreed to it: audience measurement data (pages viewed, length of visit, country, type of device). See the cookie policy.
We do not collect any payment card or bank details on the site.
Why we use it
- To send you our news and invitations (exhibitions, fairs, new works, private events) — on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.
- To answer your enquiries and manage our relationship (advice, quotes, art leasing, sales, delivery) — to perform a contract, or to take steps at your request before entering into one.
- To keep our accounts and meet our legal obligations (invoicing, tax, anti-money laundering rules in the art trade) — on the basis of our legal obligations.
- To measure visits to the site in order to improve it — on the basis of your consent, given through the cookie banner.
We do not sell or rent your data. We do not make any automated decisions about you.
Who has access to it
Your data is processed by Art Thema and by the service providers that allow us to operate, solely on our behalf:
- Artlogic Media Limited (United Kingdom): hosting of the website and of our contact database, sending of our newsletters.
- Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC: audience measurement (Google Analytics), if you have accepted it. Artlogic also measures, on its own behalf, visits to the websites it hosts.
- Where applicable, our carriers, our accountant, and the authorities where the law requires it.
Transfers outside the European Union
The United Kingdom benefits from an adequacy decision of the European Commission. Transfers to the United States (Google and some of Artlogic's subcontractors) are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- News sign-up: until you unsubscribe, or three years without any interaction on your part.
- Contacts and prospects: three years after our last exchange.
- Clients: for the duration of our relationship, then three years; accounting records and sales documents, for the period required by law (up to ten years).

Your rights
You may at any time ask for access to your data, its rectification, erasure, the restriction of its processing or its portability, and object to its use. You may withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what was done before.

If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL, www.cnil.fr) in France, or with the Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be) in Belgium.

We may update this page. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
