EN : In its monumental 1.40 m version, Promesse reveals the full strength of Isabel Miramontes’ sculptural language. The female figure rises in a sweeping, almost choreographic movement, suspended between tension, balance and lightness.
The patinated bronze gives the work an architectural presence while preserving the sense of fluidity that is so characteristic of the artist. At this scale, Promesse interacts beautifully with large interiors, entrance halls, gardens, terraces or landscaped spaces, where its movement can fully unfold.
An iconic work by Isabel Miramontes, this monumental version does more than occupy a space — it transforms it.
Provenance
Isabel Miramontes was deeply moved by a bronze sculpture in Asturia, near her native Galicia—depicting a mother reaching out to the sea, bidding farewell to her son as he sets sail for America. Though he promised to return, she knows this goodbye is final. She lets him go, torn between love, sorrow, and hope for his future.
This poignant memory inspired Promesse, a sculpture whose figure soars with both strength and longing, embodying the delicate balance between holding on and letting go.
