FR : Avec Escargot à la flamande, créée en 2022, Lieven d’Haese imagine un être mi-homme mi-escargot, aux petites antennes sur la tête, qui émerge de sa coquille. Une main en visière, l’autre sur la hanche, il scrute l’horizon avec curiosité, comme prêt à partir à la découverte du monde, à son rythme.
Présentée sur un socle en fer et pierre grise (46 x 41 x 31 cm seule, 141 cm de haut avec le socle), cette sculpture en bronze pleine d’humour et de poésie est un clin d’œil aux racines flamandes de l’artiste.
EN : With Flemish Snail, created in 2022, Lieven d’Haese imagines a half-human, half-snail creature with small antennae on its head, emerging from its shell. One hand shading its eyes, the other on its hip, it scans the horizon with curiosity, as if ready to set off and discover the world at its own pace.
Presented on an iron and grey stone socle (46 x 41 x 31 cm alone, 141 cm high with the socle), this humorous and poetic bronze sculpture is a nod to the artist’s Flemish roots.
