IIXV is a monumental sculpture by Belgian artist Lieven D’Haese, conceived as a powerful embodiment of completeness, human potential and absolute trust. The title refers to three Roman numerals—II, X and V—which are graphically and symbolically translated through the body of the figure itself.
The II is represented by the legs, firmly rooted and anchoring the figure to the ground. The X, symbol of totality, is expressed through the full extension of the body, open and expansive. The V appears in the five fingers of each outstretched hand, evoking human capability, action and creation. Together, these elements form a visual language that speaks of wholeness and balance.
With arms fully opened and the head lifted upward, the figure embodies a moment of complete surrender and confidence—a conscious act of letting go. This upward gaze becomes a sign of hope, openness and inner strength, suggesting a human being fully aligned with their possibilities and power.
Through its expressive posture and textured surface, IIXV resonates deeply with collectors of contemporary figurative sculpture and with interior or landscape architects seeking a statement piece that carries both sculptural presence and philosophical depth. Whether placed indoors or in an outdoor environment, the work establishes a strong emotional connection with its surroundings.
