Maia is a contemporary sculpture in brushed stainless steel by Gregory Castiglia, distinguished by its strong graphic presence and its subtle play between form, light and transparency. Composed of thousands of assembled metal elements, the sculpture creates an open structure that allows the viewer’s gaze to pass through the body, giving the impression of seeing through the work.
This visual permeability gives Maia a striking lightness despite the strength of its material. The silhouette appears both present and immaterial, shifting constantly according to perspective and surrounding light. The result is a refined balance between strength and delicacy, matter and void.
Edited in a limited edition of 8, Maia can be produced in different colours upon request, offering collectors and architects the possibility of a personalised version adapted to a specific interior or outdoor environment. Its sculptural language makes it equally suitable for indoor and outdoor installation, where it brings a distinctly contemporary and graphic touch to the space.
Art Thema Gallery is delighted to introduce Maia as part of its 2026 programme, presenting the work of Gregory Castiglia for the first time. This sculpture embodies a new dialogue between contemporary sculpture, design and architecture, and marks a bold and elegant addition to the gallery’s artistic direction.
